What You and Your Family Needs to Know for "Peace of Mind"

Give yourself and your family a "Gift of Peace of Mind" by compiling personal data regarding legal, financial and healthcare information.  Follow this link to download a guide that I have put together for you to know what information needs to be compiled.  The link will take you to a "Living Well'" website where you will find the document entitled, "Peace of Mind: A Guide for Legal, Financial, and Healthcare Preparation (by Rev Donald Weaver)  It is the the second Guide on that page.

Campbells. . . . Swanson . . . . V8 . .
. . Post . . . . Dannon. These are
some of the many brands which
carry Labels for Education, and you
can assist Gateway by clipping
these labels and turning them in
here at Kenmore UMC.
Make it a summer project for yourself
or your children to search out
these labels and save them for
Gateway's children. Containers are
by the Landers Road door and by
the parking lot door. Let's try to fill
these containers over the summer!
(Be sure that you include the UPC
portion of the label. Nothing else is
needed.) Thank you.

The KUMC Piecemakers are busy making their “Red, White, and Blue” quilts for injured, returning service men and women, their families and also for retired and hospitalized veterans. There are easy-to-put together packets in a basket at the rear of the sanctuary if
anyone would like to help us with this yearly project.
Last year we were able to give 130+ of these quilts away. There will be a blessing of
the quilts on Memorial Day Sunday, May 28th. We would also welcome any red, white and blue fabrics to help in the creation of these warm, comfy creations. We also are continuing with our comfort quilts for UNYTS, our prayer quilts, our baptism quilts and also cuddle quilts for all ages. Come join in the fun on Friday mornings 9 to noon – we even have “snack time”. Thank you for your love and support in this ministry.

The KUMC Good Book Discussion Group

The Kenmore United Methodist Church Book Discussion Group  is open to all!  Read the book each month and then join us and engage in some lively discussions afterwards.  Read some books that you may not have heard about or wanted to get to but just needed the opportunity.  Recently we read "The Book Thief", "My Beloved World"  (by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor) and "The Art Forger"  by B. A. Shapiro.

The Book for April is:

"Me Before You"
by JoJo Moyes

Louisa Clark is an ordinary girl living an exceedingly ordinary life—steady boyfriend, close family—who has barely been farther afield than her tiny village. She takes a badly needed job working for ex-Master of the Universe Will Traynor, who is wheelchair-bound after an accident. Will has always lived a huge life—big deals, extreme sports, worldwide travel—and he is not interested in exploring a new one.

Will is acerbic, moody, bossy—but Lou refuses to treat him with kid gloves, and soon his happiness means more to her than she expected. When she learns that Will has shocking plans of his own, Lou sets out to show him that life is still worth living.

Me Before You brings to life two people who couldn’t have less in common—a heartbreakingly romantic novel that asks, What do you do when making the person you love happy also means breaking your own heart?

The  Book Discussion Group will meet:  Thursday April 20  @ 7:30 at the home of John & Donna Percy

We will be going to Mission Central in Mechanicsburg Pa., October 4 - 7.  We will be working on health kits, school kits and cleaning buckets.  These items may go across the state or across the globe, but the people who receive them will be as blessed as we are to help with them.    Thank you for your prayers and support!

Church isn’t simply a place to go but a place to go do something good.
Church isn’t just a building but a way to build strong Christians and grow in our faith.
Church IS about creating change by taking action in the world beyond our walls.
